The Joy of a Child's Smile

We spent our third day in Nicaragua working and playing.  This morning we mixed three batches of cement while dancing to American pop played by our local coworkers.  But the highlight of our day was our time spent playing with the school's children at the Leaning Resource Center. We brought water color paints, temporary tattoos, small jigsaw puzzles, bubbles, and bombas de agua for them.  Our own yo-yo master CJ (pronounced Say Hota), gave a yo-yo demonstration and then produced a bag of yo-yos for the kids to try.  The kids had a blast and so did the adults!  The Resource Center was last year's SOL project. it is used for non-academic learning like arts and computer access.  A few weeks ago they installed a tower that enables them to have Internet access. It is the only access within a 10 mile radius. We have been enthralled with the joy we see around us. We have begun to realize that wealth comes in many forms. Some people are rich with family and friends and the satisfaction with what they have.  Wouldn't  it be great if we could all live our lives that way?
