First Day of Work

Today we started our work on the school in Villa Japon. We are building three classrooms that will serve 325 students. This is an addition to an existing school, which is why we have so many children around. The SOL policy is to work with the community, so we worked side by side today with 20 or so people from the local area. We mixed cement, put together rebar and compacted dirt by hand to prepare it for a cement walkway. At the end of the workday our youth played soccer with the local volunteers. Tonight we spent time thinking about how we can Reframe our lens to the world. Our Bible passage today was Mattew 3:5-10.  Everyone worked hard, tried (often with limited success) to stay hydrated and felt tired, but happy with what we accomplished. Another great day.
