Donations Needed to Support our RHUMC Nicaragua Mission Project

On July 20th Kathy Platnick will be leading a team of 15 youth and adults to Tipitapa, Nicaragua for a mission trip.  The trip is being organized through Sierra Service Project, a faith-based organization (http://sierraserviceproject.org/programs/nicaragua/) that Kathy has been involved with for many years. The group will be building classroom facilities for local children and will also participate in several educational exchanges.  Many people in Nicaragua live in extreme poverty.  It has a Human Development Index (which measures education, health and standard of living) of 94 as compared to the US HDI of 6.  By comparison, Mexico’s HDI is 42.  Please consider donating educational resources to contribute to the local community they will be serving.  The Nicaragua team is seeking donations of Spanish language story and study books and gently used and new laptop computers and tablets, as well as cash to buy school supplies.  For questions or additional information, please contact Kathy at ksanders@omm.com.
